RENEW 09: Empowering the Land Conference and Expo

TUCUMCARI, N.M., June 5 /PRNewswire/ — RENEW 09: Empowering the Land Conference and Expo, to be held in Tucumcari, New Mexico on June 23 -24, 2009, will highlight and feature many new and exciting developments in renewable energy. Designed as a “nuts and bolts” conference for anyone looking to prosper from the emerging renewable energy economy, the 2-day conference will feature major industry thought leaders, top governmental officials and landowners sharing best-practices for developing facility-scale and utility-scale renewable energy projects.

The goal of the conference and expo is to “empower” attendees with the knowledge and connections to be proactive in the development of renewable energy projects. Wind, solar, water, and other alternative renewable energy sources will be highlighted during the two-day event.

“We have developed exciting programs and content for our RENEW 09 attendees that are solution-based and actionable. Our sessions and panels will discuss wind energy, solar energy, landowner associations, rural electric cooperatives, transmission, and even new geothermal technology to create electricity from hot, dry rock on the earth’s crust,” said David Griscom, Clean Energy Program Manager with the Regional Development Corporation, and committee chair for programming for RENEW 09.

Building on the success from 2008, this year the conference will offer a free, two-day Renewable Energy Expo, where attendees can meet companies, government agencies, and economic development organizations that are providing products, services, and funding to renewable energy development.

Visitors will have the opportunity to tour a 1.5 MW wind turbine installed at Mesalands Community College, operated by the North American Wind Research & Training Center. Attendees will also get the opportunity to learn about the latest in state and federal incentives for homeowners and landowners.

And a first for RENEW 09…

All programs will be broadcast live via the internet, enabling the entire world to virtually attend the conference.

Sponsors for the event to date include the City of Tucumcari, the North American Wind Research & Training Center/Mesalands Community College, the Regional Development Corporation, PlateauTel, Xcel Energy, the Sustainable Technology Center/Santa Fe Community College, News Channel 10, FEC, NM Rural Electric Cooperatives, First Wind, HK Advertising and The Idea Group of Santa Fe.

Editor’s Notes:

Even though this exhibition is only about a 2 hour trip, as stated above it will also be broadcast over the Internet live. So if you really don’t want to make the trip don’t let that stop you from getting much of the same information right through your computer on the day of the event.

Attending via the Internet isn’t the same as being there but it really is the next best thing.
