The New Mexico state fair is just around the corner and to make sure all here in Albuquerque remember to attend their favorite events we have included the schedules below for the theme days and the food contests.
Just like always this will be a state fair to place in your memory books so join in the fun and celebrations.

ELEVEN FOOD CONTESTS AT 2009 STATE FAIR!
Recipes at the ready…it’s time to be rounding up your favorite recipes to enter in the eleven Food Preparation Contests at the 2009 New Mexico State Fair – that’s two more contests than last year!
In just a few more days, the “biggest show in New Mexico” gets underway and it’s not too early to be thinking about entering your culinary creations. The fair starts on Friday, September 11, and runs through Sunday, September 27.
Below is the Contest Schedule…
Note that entries for each contest are accepted on the day of the particular contest between 8:00 a.m. and noon in the Home Arts Building on the fairgrounds. The judging for each contest starts at 1:30 p.m.

- Monday, Sept. 14 – Ghirardelli Chocolate Championship
- Tuesday, Sept. 15 – The Great American Spam Championship
- Wednesday, Sept. 16 – Bread Contest
- Wednesday, Sept. 16 – Fleischmann’s Yeast “Bake For The Cure”
- Thursday, Sept. 17 – Pie Contest
- Friday, Sept. 18 – Make It With Malt-O-Meal Recipe Contest
- Monday, Sept. 21 – Chile Contest
- Tuesday, Sept. 22 – Hidden Valley “Fresh Taste For The Family”
- Wednesday, Sept. 23 – King Arthur Flour Cake Contest
- Saturday, Sept. 26 – Karo Kids Cooke Contest – NEW!
Right now Home Arts Superintendent Paula Watson and Assistant Superintendent Mary Lou Sullenberger are busy getting judges lined up for the various contests.
